Artist Blog | Tiziano Autera x maezen
Before we get into your work, can you just tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a 29-year old Italian painter living in Switzerland and I just love painting.

We are curious about your past and your style. When did you get started with art, what are your preferred topics and how would you describe your style?

I started very young but since around 8 years I am painting professionally. I describe my way of painting as very experimental: I try out a lot and somehow I think this makes my work very recognisable. My topics are often about things that lie in the future as well as topics that people don't like to talk about. My art was born from Biomechanical art, inspired by Giger, and transformed by my cubist way of thinking, influenced by Picasso's work. After that, I started translating the forms into something more natural and sculpting - into something more reminiscent of nature. I call them amorphous, sculptural and sometimes sexual forms.

To be part of our project, we asked each artist to address certain issues in their designs that we should all think about more often. Can you briefly explain what your designs are about and what message you want to convey with your designs for maezen?

The distortion series is something I am working on in my paintings at the moment and talks especially about our time, the digitally and distorted reality we look at every day. When you really look at things and try to understand what is happening in our time, you realize the deeper reality and not so much what you see - but what you know and what you feel. Things seem to be the truth when you look at them, but to understand and "know" something you have to go through it. And I think that creates a feeling between the people who look at my art and the artwork itself. They see something that they might normally feel, but that is shown by reality in a different way.

Last question. Is there one thing which is important to you that you would like to share with our community?

Enjoy the works and try to think about it. Distortion is everywhere. Starting with news, history and wherever, keep your eyes open!
